COVID 19 Level 4 Lock Down and what it means for your hire with Snap Rentals

Due to the recent New Zealand Government announcement that NZ has moved to COVID 19 alert Level 3, and will move to Level 4 by Wednesday 11:59pm, we recommend all customers return their vehicles to a Snap Rentals depot by 6pm Wednesday 25th March. 

Snap has four locations across New Zealand:

Auckland City - 33 Crummer Road, Ponsonby, Auckland
Auckland Airport - 16 Timberly Road, Mangere, Auckland
Christchurch Airport - 170 Orchard Road, Harewood, Christchurch
Queenstown Airport - 9/222 Glenda Drive, Frankton, Queenstown

If you choose not to return your vehicle by this time, please inform Snap Rentals and we will extend your booking until 23rd April 2020 (or until the lock down period ends).

Your rental extension will be charged with a 20% discount off the daily rental rate outlined on your rental agreement. Our reservations team will be working from home, but will be available via phone and email throughout the lock down period between the hours of 8am - 5pm daily.  We appreciate that this is an extremely challenging time for everyone, and there maybe delays in responding to phone calls over the coming days. If you cannot get through, we ask that you send an email to [email protected] outlining your situation. 

Our rental locations will be open from 8am - 6pm on Tuesday 24th, and Wednesday 25th March to return vehicles. 


We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation around the world. Customer safety and wellbeing is always our absolute priority.

Book with confidence - Special waiver of normal Cancellation Policy

We’ve introduced some temporary flexibility into our cancellation policy to give our customers additional time and options around their upcoming hire. The normal cancellation policy will not apply to customers who have made bookings directly with Snap Rentals, meaning customers can cancel their trip anytime upto the point of vehicle collection. These new rules are available until further notice unless otherwise stated.

Customers who have booked via third party booking agents, will need to contact their agents to discuss their cancellation policies.

New Zealand Government Restrictions

Due to the announcement by the New Zealand Government on 14th March 2020, your trip to New Zealand may be affected and you may need to amend or cancel your hire with Snap Rentals.
